A BURGER KING, A CROWNED DOG AND A SHARP FOG SHADOW – HOW WE SAVED THE WORLD IN 2020 USING SOCIAL MEDIA

The year 2020 is definitely one of those moments you want to forget as quickly as possible. The pandemic turned our existing lives upside down and confronted us with decisions that we were in no way prepared for. Social media came to our rescue, allowing us to take a break from the drudgery of everyday life that COVID-19 had wrought upon us, and come together to unite for worthy causes. Check out what we think are the three most interesting social media campaigns of the year.

Beyond the divide

When one of the biggest fast food chains invites its competitors to join in, know that something is going on! Burger King and McDonald’s have been outdoing each other for many years with ideas for the most creative campaigns, but when it comes to serious topics, they are able to join forces to achieve their goal together. As we well know, during the pandemic, the food service industry was one of those that suffered the biggest losses. Hence the idea of the Burger King chain, which decided to put the competition aside and encourage its customers to visit competing restaurants. The appeal turned out to be a very good image move, which was positively received.

To the rescue of quadrupeds

How do you take care of your four-legged friend during quarantine? The best way is to join the Facebook group ‘Pies in the Crown’, which currently has almost 94,000 volunteers from all over Poland. The aim? To take out dogs and other pets whose owners are unable to leave their four walls due to quarantine. The support group has proved to be a salvation for all those who have been unable to place their pets in the care of loved ones, for example. All you need to do is to tag your post with the appropriate tags, include the start and end date of the home isolation, as well as the necessary information about your pet. The organisers of the campaign would like to remind you to take the appropriate precautions when dealing with pets and their owners, so that the whole encounter runs safely.

#hot16challenge2 – we save the world

Beef with coronavirus is not an option! This is also the opinion of rapper Solar, who has initiated a nationwide hip-hop action for the second time. According to the rules, the nominees have 72 hours to record a 16 verse stanza to any beat and identify other artists who will have to repeat the task. This time, the action took place in cooperation with the Siepomaga.pl foundation, which created a special charity collection. The money raised went entirely to help doctors and hospitals in the fight against coronavirus. Among the many speeches, we kept hearing about the bravery and courage of the medics, as well as the mysterious ‘fierce shadow of mist’ they had to fight.

Social media is a powerful tool, especially if you want the largest possible audience. Unlike outdoor or print advertising, social media can reach everyone without any geographical restrictions. It is well known that it is thanks to these tools that the impossible has been achieved more than once! Content marketing experts agree that 2020 has been a huge challenge for the social media industry, which has become the main communication platform during the lockdown. We are very curious to see what the next year will bring us!
