Last week, almost all the media were covering the big Messenger crash. Maybe a while ago we would have waved our hands at it and waited in peace for everything to ‘fix itself’. However, today, when social media is not just entertainment, but also a full-blown Customer Service Office, such crashes are felt most keenly by companies for whom it is a way of contacting customers – especially in times of pandemonium.
Problem with Facebook
However, this is not the only problem Facebook administrators and advertisers have noticed recently. Below is a short list of what hasn’t worked or still doesn’t work as it should in recent times. Interestingly, not all bugs are present in everyone. Sometimes something doesn’t work with just one administrator, or only from one device. Sometimes all it takes is a change of browser and the problem suddenly resolves itself. Such tips are shared by members of social media support groups on Facebook, where questions such as ‘It doesn’t work for me…, how is it for you?’ have been prevalent recently.
- Messenger failure – so far, messages from sites are not displaying on mobile devices. When you click on the notification, you are told that the message has been deleted. The problem does not occur when using the Business Suite.
- Problems with the cover photo – disappearing cover photos or not being able to change the slideshow are problems that occur randomly.
- Canva posts not displaying – similar to cover photo, the problem occurs randomly. Some people see the post correctly, in others the graphics do not display.
- Disappearing or duplicate posts – while a disappearing post can be explained in many ways such as a ban from Facebook or reporting a post, posts publishing themselves several times is a new phenomenon.
- Disappearing graphics – we publish a post with a graphic, everything is visible, and in a moment it turns out that the graphic is not there.
- The problem with invoices – recently, most advertisers received (some still do) invoices for ridiculously low amounts despite increased spending limits. As a result, instead of one invoice, we have dozens or dozens of invoices to settle.
- Despite disabling push notifications, administrators still receive notifications, but of course those who have not disabled notifications do not receive all the information.
- Some administrators were receiving notifications without being assigned to a managed site.
- For more than a week, some advertisers have been having problems adding new events in the FB pixel.
- Carousels not working – on some profiles carousels only enter via Business Manager, on others they work randomly and on some not at all.
- Random comments, or rather comments randomly assigned to fans. We have noticed the error on one page so far, but it was particularly disruptive. Comments in the mobile app were not displaying under the name of the person commenting, but were mixed up. The notification was received from fans who did not want to be linked to other people’s comments.
- Problems with adverts – burnt-out budgets, budgets that stagnate or adverts that don’t work… in a word, check your campaigns and be on your guard.
- This page is temporarily unavailable – i.e. a total lack of access to the site, the problem occurs on some profiles.
- Declining reach on Instagram – a significant number of creators are noticing drastic drops in reach, it is not yet clear if this is a matter of algorithm changes or technical issues.
And finally, something particularly interesting – on one site I have been receiving a notification for a few days that I do not have permission to publish certain post formats. However, the situation only applies to scheduled posts and does not occur with immediate publication.
Unfortunately, all of these situations are extremely inconvenient, and it is particularly inconvenient when they occur randomly and the client finds it hard to believe that two administrators can have a completely different view of the same page. Where to look for help? In support, of course, but we must remember that the pandemic period and the approaching Christmas holidays make the waiting time for help or clarification longer.
And on that not-so-positive note, all that remains is for me to wish you good luck and a lot of patience.
