Coronavirus versus social media

Such paralysis is not remembered by the oldest social media ninjas - the COVID-19 coronavirus is giving us an experience that our grandchildren will tell their grandchildren about. For most industries, life has slowed down considerably; for others, it has stopped altogether. However, there is one sphere that is doing well in the age of the pandemic - social media. How is the pandemic affecting social media?

Social media in the age of the coronavirus

If it’s a meeting, it’s on Skype, if it’s a workout, it’s on Zoom, if it’s inspiration, it’s on Instagram, and if it’s ordinary life, it’s on Facebook. In the virtual space, we celebrate, attend concerts and visit museums. Content marketing specialists are doubling and tripling to come up with compelling campaigns, maintain sales and even fight for the survival of companies and brands. If you, too, are wondering what to publish for yourself and your customers and how to communicate in social media at the moment, we have a few hints:

Don’t panic

Although it is hard to believe at the moment, only calmness can save us. Therefore, do not publish unverified information, clickbait articles or suspicious videos on your profiles, including on the coronavirus. The situation is dynamic and there is a lot of contradictory information, so sometimes it is better to wait a while than to straighten out your own posts later.

Coronavirus on the Internet

Stay in touch

Even if you temporarily suspend your business, don’t give up on keeping in touch with your audience. Keep them up to date with your brand, reveal what you’re planning, reminisce about previous collections, photo shoots or successful seasons.

Think outside the box

Instead of wringing your hands over lost time and money, think outside the box. Encourage vouchers for future services, ask recipients what they need and what they would like to buy. Let the support of regular customers surprise you.

Communication in times of crisis

Use prompts

Don’t be afraid to look at how others handle themselves in a crisis. Learn from them and adapt effective solutions to your own needs. Use ready-made content – Twitter has provided a post schedule for the whole month, why not use it for your own communication?

Focus on being online

Bring your stationary shop into virtual reality, start recording webinars, try your hand at live streaming. Thinking about podcasting? There probably won’t be a better time! Try, test, look for solutions that are perfect for your business.

Allow yourself to be ignorant

Not sure how to act in this situation? No wonder – pandemics don’t happen every day. But instead of fretting, be open to new things. Try something that’s been on your mind but there’s never been time or opportunity for it. Now there is.
